Food Bank
St. Paul's On-The-Hill Community Food Bank has been providing food for hungry families in Pickering and Ajax since the doors first opened in 1990. Open all year round, more than 50 volunteers keep the food bank running, many of them donating food themselves, and organizing fund raising projects. For a more comprehensive Food Bank website, please go to www.stpaulsonthehillfoodbank.
The Food Bank is grateful for generous support of the area churches in Pickering and Ajax, who run food drives and make donations. In addition, we receive financial support and food donations from many individuals and local companies. (i.e, Ontario Hydro, Canadian Tire, Hubbell Canada, Chartwell, The Rotary Club, Canadian Progress Club, and some local banks) All this together with Grocery stores in the area that also collect food donations are what keep the shelves stocked throughout the year. The challenge this year is to find a financial solution for the perishable items (milk, eggs, apples and potatoes) that are very helpful to our clients, but incredibly costly to the Food Bank. The last few years the Food Bank has had a difficult time keeping these things available due to lack of funds. Please help us to put food on the tables of Pickering and Ajax residents less fortunate than ourselves. We have a particular need for the following items. BREAKFAST CEREAL CANNED JUICE (28 OZ) CHILDREN’S LUNCH SNACKS & DESSERTS COOKIES, CRACKERS CANNED STEW, CHUNKY SOUP OR CHILI DRY SOUP, MR. NOODLE TUNA/SALMON & OTHER CANNED MEAT CANNED FRUIT CANNED VEGETABLES PASTA SAUCE CANNED PASTA TEA BAGS/ INSTANT COFFEE SUGAR, FLOUR & RICE We request that all donated food be non-perishable in good condition and with current expiry dates St. Paul's On-the-Hill Community Food Bank Coordinator - Rae Coulter 905.839.9537 Food Bank hours are Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 am to noon
