Spiritual Growth

We view St. Paul’s on-the-Hill as a spiritual growth centre. We want to assist everyone in their spiritual growth. We have developed the St. Paul’s learning opportunities so that we can meet the needs of different people with different schedules. The courses change each season, but the following will lay out the basics for you.

We encourage all of our new members to take the ALPHA course. ALPHA is offered once a year. It is an excellent opportunity to systematically progress through the key elements of the faith. It is a wonderful time to make new friends and begin to feel a part of this community. Watch for the start of the next ALPHA course.

Following ALPHA there are many other learning opportunities we offer and various weekend retreats, including Cursillo, AWARE and FLAME conferences. These courses may be offered in the church or at a parishioner’s home.

Prayer and Healing

As we read about the ministry of Jesus, everywhere He went people were being healed. They were being healed of physical ailments, emotional scars, and spiritual affliction. At St. Paul’s we feel commissioned to carry on the same healing ministry of Jesus. We want every person to feel that this is a safe place and a place where they can receive prayer for healing. This is a place to experience the transforming love of Jesus touching our bodies, our emotions and our souls. If you find that you are tearful during worship, or during a particular song, this may be a sign that the Lord is already quietly bringing His healing power to your life. In the fellowship of this community, in the worship and teaching, and in the prayers you will experience the healing power of God flowing into your life.

Kids & Teens

We place a high priority on the spiritual formation and education of our young people. There are huge pressures at school and from the media which influence their lives and their values. As a congregation, we work together to give all young people a strong foundation in faith and in God’s word. Our Children and Youth Pastor, Tanya Lamb, provides the expertise in these areas by developing relevant Christ-centered programs, and by offering leadership opportunities for both adult and youth volunteers alike.

Prayer Circle

The Prayer Circle consists of 30 people who handle prayer requests each month. All prayer requests are handled with strict confidence. Only first names are necessary. Call the church office in order to connect with the co-ordinators.

Prayer Ministry Team

There are 18 members who are trained to pray with people during Communion at the Sunday morning services. Sunday Morning Prayer Ministry is available at the lobby doors during the communion time.

Anointing for Healing:

In the Bible we are encouraged to pray for the sick and to anoint them with oil. The oil is a sign of God’s blessing. Anointing is offered by licensed Lay anointers on the first Sunday of each month.
