Young People & Families

The past year has been an exciting on for Young Couples, Singles and Families here at St. Paul's.  In June there was a night out at Yuk Yuk's comedy club in Ajax.  The 16 people that went along were a diverse group of people from the age of 20 up to the 30's!  We had many laughs and got to know a few people from outside the church as well.  In September Ian and Susan Scott graciously opened their home to four couples and their children for a small Bible study group focusing on the Gospel of John.  The group has an open format meeting the needs of young adults and their families at the various stages they are in.  the kids have fun watching movies, playing games and one Sunday there was even a live singing act!  This is an on-going group and we hope to add to its numbers over the next year while forming friendships along the way.

Also in September Nicole and Jamie Harvie hosted an open house meet n' greet lunch. Along with the help of Kathleen and Julian Read, they put on a great party and everyone in attendance had a wonderful time.  The rainy day did little to dampen the spirits of all.  Julian had a chance to show off his BBQ skills while the guests mingled and got to know one another.

In October, a group of twenty three visited the Royal Ontario Museum to view the Dead Sea Scrolls and Ten commandments.  The Rev. Dr. Glenn Taylor of Wycliffe college and our own Canon Kim lead this group.  It was an awesome day for the whole group.  We were the envy of the exhibit as we were blessed to have Rev. Taylor who can actually read ancient Hebrew and was able to read to us directly from the scrolls!  We drew crowds more than once.  After lunch we attended a private lecture at Wycliffe College on the Dead Sea Scrolls and surrounding areas.

The year ahead of us promises to be just as good as the last.  We are working on a special movie viewing about the civil war in Rwanda and forgiveness, as well as paint-ball outing.  With many other events to come the young Couples, Singles and Family ministry is sure to grow.  It is my prayer that the future for this wide ranging group be blessed one with many more added to our numbers.  I look forward to serving this ministry and the great things that the Lord has in store for us all.
